"Return visit."
We stayed here last Sept 2022 with our daughter and her partner for a week. we had a lovely time in Protaras so my partner and i decided to visit again this year but for 11 nights so this time we had more time to experience the hotel and i will highlight some of peoples recent concerns. FOOD CHANGE. Yes the evening meal has changed from choosing from a menu that although was not extensive was freshly prepared in the attached Italian restaurant and was passable to a now very limited, random and sometimes unappealing buffet. We were ready for this from reading recent reviews and had budgeted for eating out on nights that we might not like what was on offer. Nothing really seemed to go together and on the nights when spaghetti or pasta was put out it was was just bland with no sauce and this was prepared in the same kitchen which was still trying to trade as a walk in Italian, come on chef just a simple passata based sauce would lift it. Some of the dishes we were offered included lots of meat based dishes in Greek sauces which were sometimes very fatting but other times almost melt in your mouth perfect, kebab and meat kofta, fish in sauce, chicken (always thigh) either fried or in a sauce, pasta or rice. one night we had deep fried prawns and on another calamari but as i said the accompanying dishes just did not go together you just had a plate of random stuff. This might all sound nice when reading but appearance and taste are altogether a different experience and sometimes barely warm. some salad bits and two cake desserts and fruit. I really do think that the chef has small budget for evening food. The breakfast is a much better offering with hot and continental styles and feel the Plaza should base itself and become just a bed and breakfast hotel. NOISE. we were aware of the REVO bar on the roof and on both visits asked for rooms on the opposite side of the hotel and on the 2nd floor. the bar appeared to close on the last weekend of Sept so later bookings will be ok however i dont know about half term week as the resort will be busy again. one thing we could really remember from last year was the noise from other sources, the hotel is on a corner plot off the main road and the road to other hotels, bars, shop and beach car park and this echoes around the back seaward rooms and the front rooms get all the traffic and bar noise which also includes the almost constant bus stop right outside the hotel which runs into the very early hours. then you get the rubbish trucks and delivery trucks coming out just as you finally start to settle down lol. ROOM. we had seaward view, you can just glimpse the sea but not the beach from 2nd floor. It all looked very clean until when unpacking my partner dropped her earing and on looking under the bed i was greeted by some very dusty black socks that looked like they had been there from the start of the season or longer! the dust/dirt under the bed was quite shocking but when i tried to move the bed i could see why, it was very heavy and i can see the maid struggling with it on a daily basis. The bathroom sealant around the shower enclosure had some engrained mould but i looked at this with the view that its almost been a 7 month season for a typical package deal hotel and hey even our own bathrooms succumb to this but we can keep on top of this as we do not have a 2 hour turn around in which to bleach soak and deep clean before the next arrivals.(one staff member we spoke to told us they get 5 and a half hours sleep) It really was not a deal breaker for us. THINGS WHY TO CONSIDER THIS HOTEL The cost, half the price of the surrounding and crammed packed hotels. Its a minute walk to the amazing fig tree bay and main beach. Its on the quieter end of the strip but a quick walk to the bigger bars and nightlife. Superb staff. and a quiet pool area with no need to reserve a sunbed with a towel a book and sun hat 05.00 .It has an amazing Chinese restaurant and gelato attached to it. So maybe just treat it like we did... a decent small and friendly 3 star bed and breakfast hotel in a prime location but do not expect 5 star evening dining for the price you pay.

"Great location but do NOT go half board, and don't expect to sleep!"
We returned a few weeks back from a 10 day holiday here with our teenager.  The good - Great location - 5 minute walk to Fig Tree Bay, the most beautiful beach and brilliant watersports. - Lovely staff, especially the waitors/waitresses and one of the ladies on the reception desk. Chatty, friendly and helpful. - Lovely pool. Always plenty of sunbeds. It really doesn't matter what time you get there. We were often at the beach until lunch time and there were still plenty of sunbeds when we got back. -Breakfasts are nice The not so good - If you have a room below the Revo bar (like we did), do not expect to sleep until 3am.  It is so loud it's like you were in the bar. Absolutely awful.  In the end, my teenager was so tired that we had to buy sleeping tablets for her from the pharmacy to knock her out each night due to the noise.  Staff just shrug their shoulders about it.  Spoke to a few people who had the same issue and another couple who were further down the corridor who could hardly hear it.  Total luck on your room location. - The rooms are very basic and in desperate need of some TLC.  The bathrooms are horrible, mouldy silicone, stained shower trays etc.  I tried to get in and out of the bathroom as quickly as possible. - The main beds are very comfortable but there is no mattress protector and the sheets were not fitted, meaning every night we ended up sleeping on the mattress when the sheets inevitably moved.  Really really grim, especially finding myself sleeping on stains from god knows what and who. - The evening meals were bad.  Like really bad (see photo of a typical offering). There was no choice for vegetarians, so my daughter and husband ate plain boiled rice each night and a few chips if they were lucky (surprisingly the chip tray was the only tray that was consistently empty!). One night there was randomly some brussel sprouts for them to add to their plain rice......!  I honestly can't put into words how bad the evening meals were.  We booked this hotel because we wanted a base whilst spending most of our time at Fig Tree Bay, snorkeling and doing watersports.  It definitely provided us with that, but it really could do so much better if the rooms were tidied up and the awful dinners were sorted out.

"Great location and perfect for our two week break "
Booked through TUI and went for two weeks. Hotel location ideal for the best beach in Cyprus (Fig Tree Bay). It’s a 5 minute walk and is perfect for snorkelling and swimming, sandy beach but get there early (7-7.30 am) if you want a sun bed which is about 3 euro per person. The hotel is on the main strip but not too noisy but has great access to supermarket, pharmacy, ATM and restaurants. The bus stop is right outside so ideal for day trips. Staff at the hotel were extremely friendly: receptionist (Nina) and the restaurant and housekeeping staff. Room itself was clean and comfortable- had the amenities we needed I.e. tea and coffee. There’s a small fridge and also a safe. Room is cleaned daily. Swimming pool ideal - wasn’t overly busy but we managed to get a sun bed. There was one day when a hotel guest had invited friends in which made it too busy and loud which seemed unfair. Breakfast was nice - good selection but a slow working coffee machine. Food at dinner (we went half board) was nice but basic and didn’t have any vegetarian options apart from salad. Fine for a light bite but we often had a big lunch out. It would benefit from a bigger selection. Advertised as having an indoor pool but according to the staff this hasn’t been open since covid times so this won’t be in use. Revo bar is really nice and accessible by the lift next door. We were on the third floor (four storeys) and didn’t hear noise from our room. The bar was a nice setting with a good DJ and nice choice of cocktails (one night stand and strawberry delight).

"We are coming back"
Located very close to everything that we wanted, close the night life and also close to the beach. Just walking distance. Clean and comfort. Delicious food and excellent breakfast with wide variety. Few nights we went to the bar 360. Amazing cocktails and the actual bar is rotating slowly clock wise. Very nice hotel we are coming back..........

"Really good stay"
Checked in and was a little early, explained to the lady at reception that check in time wasn't on their web page or the email confirming the booking and that I had emailed them but hadn't received a reply. She checked their email system and found my email which also had request for info on parking and the fact I had made an error with the booking and had booked for one person. An apology was forthcoming, and the issues were soon put to bed! Had to pay a little more as you would expect given the change in occupancy from 1 to 2. Our room was ready so we were checked in. The maintainence man was at reception and he made a point of saying hello. The room was absolutely fine! Double room, USB charging ports and 2 13 amp plug points each side of the bed. The AC was running so the room was lovely and cool. There was a beverage station with tea/coffee/sugar/indiv cartons of UHT milk and a kettle. There was a mini fridge was was useful for keeping our water cold and, would have been ideal to have stored fresh milk in. Bathroom was more than adequate, walk in shower with choice of small showerhead or overhead shower and 2 dispensers of soap - in the shower and at the hand basin. There was a terrace facing the mountain (we have a sea view at home so not a deal breaker). There were two pool towels provided in addition to the usual face and bath towels. Breakfast was buffet style and as you would expect everything was on trays ready for you. I have read some negative comments on the breakfast but, remembering it's not UK so you will not get the same bacon & sausages. Additionally for the cost of the room at €121 per night the breakfast was good value - I've had breakfasts where your order is cooked on request but its always been at a much higher room rate! There was a mix of food available from eggs (boiled, fried, scambled)/bacon/sausage/mushrooms/mini waffles, sausage on crossaints. A selection of 'continental foods - cheeses, cold meats etc and a wide selection of fresh fruit, with cereals & yogurt with fresh tea & coffee. The staff in the breakfast room were very attentive and polite. The pool had plenty of sun beds and umbrellas, the pool opened at 0900hrs which was when the lifeguard was on duty - Cyprus has very strict laws on lifeguards attending pools and a pool without a lifeguard cannot be used by the public. The poolbar has a wide range of drinks & snacks available. There is a pharmacy just across the road, and a supermarket on the opposite corner to the hotel so you don't have to go far for water/tea/coffee/milk or pharmacy supplies! The hotel is at one end of the Protaras 'strip' and along the strip there are plenty of options for eating, drinking & entertainment. The underground parking has very few spaces but there is on street parking too. No matter who you met from the hotel staff they always acknowleded you. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and you could always tell when housekeeping had visited! There was really good WiFi which along with parking was free. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel.
